MONA BREKKE

All trees grow differently is a series of drawings about transformation. One of the transformation processes that the pictures recount is my own childhood where the place of Rollag was important. This rural village has been my family’s regular holiday location, and the vacation experiences in Rollag have attached themselves as impressions and moods in my memory.

A parallel story tells of nature and of trees that grow. Trees all develop differently depending on what opportunities for growth they are given – all the branches go in their particular directions and each have their specific place.
